Stock Manager for BlackBerry

Dear Stock Manager user,

If you are having problems updating your stocks or registering the software, please follow the instructions below.

If your method of connecting to the internet is via:

BlackBerry Enterprise Service (MDS)

Click on the BlackBerry button, select "Preferences..." and make sure the "BlackBerry Enterprise Service" is checked. You can uncheck the other options.

Update your stocks or register the software.

If it did not work, make sure that your IT department has enabled the option to allow 3rd party applications to connect to the internet. Some IT departments only allow the BlackBerry web browser to connect to the outside of your company's firewall.

You can check the firewall status by going to:

Options > Security Options > Firewall

BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS)

Click on the BlackBerry button, select "Preferences..." and make sure the "BlackBerry Internet Service" is checked. You can uncheck the other options.

Update your stocks or register the software.

If it did not work, exit Stock Manager, go to:

Options > Security Options > Firewall

and make sure that the firewall is disabled. You can also try the menu option "Reset Settings". Try to update your stocks again.

Direct TCP

Click on the BlackBerry button, select "Preferences..." and make sure the "Direct TCP" is checked. You can uncheck the other options.

Exit Stock Manager, go to:

Options > Advanced Options > TCP

and set your APN. You can find a list of APNs here:

http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/Carrier_specific_APN/TCP_settings

If your carrier is not listed then it is best that you call their customer support line and ask them what is the APN that you should use.

Go to:

Options > Security Options > Firewall

and make sure that the firewall is disabled. You can also try the menu option "Reset Settings".

Update your stocks or register the software.

Registration

If you are trying to register the program and your registration code comes back as invalid:

- Make sure that you have entered your code correctly. Upper/lower case does not matter but the '-' characters are important.

- If have used your registration code previously on a different BlackBerry phone, your code will be locked to the other phone. Contact us with details about your new phone.

Log

If you are still having problems, right after an update, press the BlackBerry button and select "View Network Log" from the "Internet" menu. You can then press the BlackBerry button again, select "Copy All" and paste the contents of the log into an email to support@tinystocks.com. Please also include:

- Log
- BlackBerry model and OS version
- Type of connection that you are trying to use.
